Room Types - The Easylife Kitchens Process

Your Journey with Easylife Kitchens:
From Inspiration to Installation

If you’re browsing our site because you’re ready to transform your kitchen, you’re in the right place. We know a full kitchen renovation can feel overwhelming, but we’ve designed our process to make it as smooth and stress-free as possible.

We handle the design, custom manufacturing, and expert installation of your cabinets and countertops, while you coordinate the supporting trades (plumbing, electrical, tiling, etc.) with professionals of your choice. Here’s exactly how it works, from that first enquiry or showroom visit all the way to handover.

Getting Started – Your Consultation

It all begins when you reach out – whether by calling us, filling in our online form, or simply popping into one of our showrooms (we’ve got convenient locations across Southern Africa – check our showrooms page for the closest one to you).

We’ll book you in for an initial consultation. Bring along your ideas, photos of your current space, rough measurements, appliance details, or even Pinterest boards! Our experienced design consultants will sit down with you (sometimes for a few hours) to understand your lifestyle, budget, family needs, and dream style – modern, classic, handleless, you name it.
We’ll create stunning 3D designs, show you multiple layout options, discuss door profiles, colours, storage solutions, and countertops. When you return to the showroom, we will WOW you with a 3D render, personalised concept and a clear preliminary quote. Love what you see? We refine it together until it’s perfect.

Locking It In – Approval, Deposit & Production Kick-Off

Approval Phase

Once you’re happy with the final design, we prepare your detailed quotation covering everything we supply: custom cabinets, drawers, soft-close hardware, countertops, and full installation.

Deposit & Project Start

Sign the contract, pay your deposit, and your kitchen goes into production at our factory. Manufacturing lead times are typically 4–6 weeks (sometimes a bit longer during peak periods or for special finishes), so this is the perfect window for you to get your site ready.

Preparing Your Space – Your Side of the Prep

Site Prep

While your cabinets are being made, you handle the groundwork. We need your kitchen area to be a clean, stable “shell” before our installers arrive – here’s what needs to happen first:

  • Demolition & Clearing: Empty all cupboards, remove appliances/food/valuables, and set up a temporary cooking spot elsewhere (microwave, fridge in the garage/laundry – trust us, you’ll thank yourself later!). Hire a contractor for demo if you’re removing old units.
  • Rough-Ins (Plumbing & Electrical): Book your licensed plumber and electrician now! New sink/dishwasher/gas lines, outlets for oven/hob/under-cabinet lights, extractor fan wiring – everything must be in its final position, tested, and live (power on-site). This has to be 100% complete before we install, or we’ll run into issues later.
  • Walls & Structure: Any plastering, painting (behind where cabinets will go), new ceilings, doors, or windows should be finished and dry. Floors need to be screeded/levelled if required.
  • Tiling & Flooring:  Floor tiles/vinyl should be completed before our installation (we recommend wall to wall tiling for a flat and level floor). If you’re doing solid wood or laminate flooring, that can often go in after – we’ll advise based on your design. Wall tiles/backsplashes must be done at end of installation, once your countertops have been installed.
  • Pro Tip: Share your final Easylife Kitchens layout drawings with your tilers/plumbers/electricians so everything aligns perfectly – no surprises!

We Take Over – Delivery & Professional Installation

Installation Phase

Once your prep is done and your cabinets are ready, we schedule installation (we’ll coordinate timing with you). Our trained teams arrive on site, deliver everything, and get to work:

  • Precise levelling and scribing to fit uneven walls/floors.
  • Installing base units, wall cabinets, tall units, drawers, doors, and hardware.
  • Fitting and sealing countertops (with cutouts for sink/hob).
  • Final adjustments for perfect function and look.

Installation usually takes 3–10 days depending on kitchen size and complexity. We keep the site tidy daily and communicate any questions. You can stay home (work stays in the kitchen area), but keep kids/pets clear for safety.

The Finishing Line – Walkthrough, Snags & Handover

Completion & Snags

We do a full walkthrough with you to inspect every detail. Point out any minor snags—we fix them quickly (usually same day or next). We’ll show you how everything works (drawers, lights, mechanisms) and share care tips for your new surfaces and cabinets.

Once you’re thrilled, we hand over your beautiful new kitchen, collect the balance payment, and you’re ready to cook, entertain, and enjoy!

Typical Timeline in Kitchen Design & Installation

  • Week 1 – 3: Enquiry → Design → Approval & deposit
  • Week 4 – 8: Your prep (demo, plumbing/electrical, tiling) + our manufacturing
  • Week 9 – 12: Installation & handover

Of course, every project is unique – larger or more custom designs can take longer, and we always give you realistic updates. Delays often come from slow approvals or trades not being ready, so stay in touch with your consultant weekly.
